It was a glorious celebration of pop culture and all things geeky at the Singapore Toy, Game & Comic Convention this past weekend!
Held at the Sands Expo and Convention Center in Marina Bay Sands, the event saw a huge turnout of excited fans looking to get their hands on new comic books and toys. Fans also got the chance to meet their favourite artists, creators and designers from all around the world.
L-R: Lin Koh (Reed Exhibitions), Huck Gee, Stella Chuu and Adam Hughes.
As ‘the coolest event of the year’, the STGCC guest list included Adam Hughes whose works are featured in DC Comics, Marvel Comics, Archie and more, toy maker and designer Huck Gee and iconic cosplayer Stella Chuu.
Another much anticipated guest was also C. B. Cebulski who held a Portfolio Review on Sunday to scout for a new Singaporean artist to draw for Marvel!
Panel interview on local comics industry.
The entire weekend was jam-packed with activities and interviews that covered various inspiring topics over at the Main Stage.
One of them featured a talk on how to sustain a career in the local comics industry, where Singapore comics historian Lim Cheng-Tju, Liongeeks’ Elvin Ching and Top Cow talent hunt runner-up Kelly Bender shared great insights.
Kelly’s word of advice: “If you have the talent, just do it!”
Up for auction at STGCC were exclusive SG50-themed Munnies!
Top row (L-R): Tell Your Children, Keh Choon Wee, Caramelaw
Bottom row (L-R): Ziqi, Wanton Doodle and Keatopia
In commemoration of our nation’s Golden Jubilee, STGCC had commissioned Singapore-based artists prior to the event to create exclusive SG50-themed Munnies. These cute collectibles were up for a silent auction, where all proceeds went to Club Rainbow, a child welfare organisation. The artists involved were Caramelaw, Keatopia, Keh Choon Wee, Tell Your Children, Wanton Doodle and Ziqi.

The STGCC Championships of Cosplay: the Quest for the Crown and STGCC Kids Cosplay Parade
STGCC had always been cosplay heaven, so it’s about time we saw the debut of the STGCC Championships of Cosplay. What made this even doubly special was that the competition was a stop in the ‘Quest for the Crown’, a new global Cosplay competition circuit, which meant that the grand prize was to represent STGCC in the 2016 C2E2 Crown Championships of Cosplay in Chicago!
Children weren’t left out either from the cosplay fun with the STGCC Kids Cosplay Parade. In the end, 20 lucky kids were shortlisted to win Disney XD goodie bags consisting of awesome stuff like Avengers: Age of Ultron water bottle and Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. notebook.

But the fun didn’t end at the Main Stage!
There were various booths selling local and international products from comic books to postcards and stickers. Whether you’re a casual or hardcore fan of toys, comics and games, you won’t go home disappointed!
Live DJ sessions at STGCC booth!
Besides graphic novels and all that usual stuff, it was refreshing to see a live DJ set-up at one of the booths. There’s just something for everyone at STGCC!
