Congratulations to our 39 EXSA Award Winners!

A big congratulation to all our amazing SAFRA staff that walked away with Excellent Service Awards (EXSA) for the Hospitality Sector at the annual SPRING Singapore Hotel Association (SHA)'s award ceremony. We are very proud of their efforts in providing great service and being service champions!

Presentation ceremony for the Hospitality Sector took place on 20 November 2017 at Kallang Theatre. Supported by SPRING Singapore, EXSA is a national award that recognises individuals who have delivered quality service and is managed by six industry lead bodies such as the Association of Singapore Attractions.

The annual award presentation ceremony was graced by Dr Koh Poh Koon, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Trade and Industry and Ministry of National Development and was well attended by approximately 1,000 award winners and guests. In his speech, Dr Koh noted that "the personal touch that our service staff brings cannot be easily replaced or re-created ... they have shown that service excellence is about going beyond customer's expectations to create meaningful guest engagement and positive experiences."

This year, a record-breaking number of 39 award winners from across six SAFRA clubs were presented with 8 Star, 9 Gold and 22 Silver awards accordingly. These winners had constantly displayed extraordinary service excellence and were always seeking to be the best service champions in SAFRA.

The nominees of the EXSA Star Award 2017 were handpicked from the winners of SAFRA's internal SQ Star Award to enter the SPRING Singapore's set of criterion. From internal selection to external assessment, the journey for these individuals continued with a workshop organised by SPRING Singapore.

This year, our nominees brought home a total of 8, with one of the Star Award winners being one of the 5 finalists for the SHA Outstanding Star Award - the highest accolade for EXSA. We caught up with some of our inspirational winners to find out more about their motivation and experience in providing excellent service.

First up, we got our SHA Outstanding Star Finalist, Mr Kevin Lim, Senior Lifeguard at SAFRA Yishun. Mr Lim showed exemplary service when he helped a couple relocate their missing 5-year-old child. Unable to locate the child on SAFRA premises, Mr Lim suggested for one of the parents to stay in SAFRA while the other trace the same route back home. With this plan, the parent was able to find their child. The parents were grateful for Mr Lim being decisive and quickly assessing the situation in such emergencies. He shares with us about what great service is about and his motto as a Senior Lifeguard in SAFRA.

"Some of my goals consists of maintaining good relationships with SAFRA members and customers and ensuring that I am able to provide a hazard-free environment in terms of safety for them. Being responsible and at the same time having a positive attitude is crucial to treat others, the way you want to be treated.     "I am absolutely happy and proud to have received the award and this has motivated me to achieve more in my career. As a Senior Customer Services Officer, my goal is to ensure that I maintain the high SAFRA servicing standard and positive customer service.     "I am very grateful to those who have their time and for commending on my services to be nominated for this award. As a fitness trainer, my training methods are key to help members and clients alike to reach their health or fitness goals. In the future, I hope to have more opportunities to serve with more passion on the gym floor.     Sri Murni Binte Moonshi Nasiruddin, Senior Customer Services Officer, SAFRA Jurong

    "I feel ecstatic and accomplished for winning the award. The relationships that I have built along the way with SAFRA members adds on to my work experience in SAFRA. In particular, after helping a member reach SAFRA Jurong while I was on the way to work, we started chatting along the way and have since continued to forge new relationships.
