SAFRA’s Staff Celebrating SAF Day
By Clement Phua
July 1, 2016
SAFRA celebrated SAF Day at SAFRA Mount Faber and spotted NSmen smartly decked out in their uniforms. Regardless of whichever field they are working in, NSmen in SAFRA island-wide changed into their uniforms to display which sector of the Singapore Armed Forces do they belong to on 1 July; Green for the Army, Blue for the Air Force, Grey for the Navy. So how did SAF Day come about?
A Short Walk in History
Back in 1969, SAF Day was known as the Armed Forces Day. The event was mainly about the first troops of the Singapore Armed Forces, and they did a parade with a March Past at the Jelan Besar Stadium.
Fast forward to today, it is now called SAF day and 1st July is the day set aside for servicemen and servicewomen to reaffirm their loyalty and commitment to the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) and the nation of Singapore.
Here are some of the highlights of how SAFRA celebrated this occasion this year.
