Ten Most Sexiest Car-related Movies

Yesterday, we presented our ‘main stars’ of the recent Tokyo Auto Salon Singapore 2013. The gorgeous race queens won not only SAFRA’s heart and mind, but also those of the local crowd. But, we are not alone in this. Apparently, we found this hilarious meme from SGAG Singapore that seems to second our opinion.

In addition, we also brought to your attention that cars have become closely associated with attributes of the fairer sex as well. You can check out the article here if you missed it.
But, how did such a phenomenon come about?
Though we are no shrinks here in SAFRA, we looked back into the past and check out some of the raunchiest car movies that might have shaped our mind when we were still young full blooded teen.
So strap yourself in and wind up your window as we drive you through our list of the Ten Most Sexiest Car-related Movies!
Ten Most Sexiest Car-related Movies (Not in any order of merit)
1. Days of Thunder (1990)
Considered as our earliest glimpse of the blonde bombshell from Down Under, this film introduced us to the stunning Nicole Kidman. She plays the dreamy Dr Claire Lewicki to Tom Cruise, the wounded NASCAR car driver. Nicole’s delicate features certainly endured her not just to us but to Tom Cruise. In fact, Nicole’s charm worked so well on Tom that they eventually tied the knot soon after.
2. The Fifth Element (1997)
Ok, so this isn’t strictly a car movie. But with famed French director Luc Besson serving up the scantily clad Milla Jovovich into the back of Bruce Willis’s flying taxi, it only heightened the effect of the pulse-racing chase sequence that follows. She certainly made it into to the fast lane of our hearts.
3. Gone in 60 Seconds (2000)
Angelina Jolie, being every bit the bad girl as she carjacked and drove exotic fast cars. This is the most succinct description we can think of for this movie. The ravishing beauty played Sara ‘Sway’ Wayland who assisted Nicolas Cage in stealing 50 cars within 72 hours. The perfect embodiment of naughty and nice, Angelina certainly made us jealous that we were not even old enough to qualify for a driving licence.
4. Swordfish (2001)
This may have been the movie that John Travolta resurrected his famous Pulp Fiction hairdo, but our eyes were firmly fixed on Halle Berry in Swordfish. The Academy Award winner was ever the tease as the femme fatale, Ginger Knowles as she seduced Hugh Jackman’s character into a crazy world of high tech crime, crazy shoot outs and explosive car chases.
5. The Fast And The Furious (2001)
This is the quintessential racing movie of our time. When we first laid eyes on Michelle Rodriguez and Jordana Brewster, all concerns about story, characters and even Vin Diesel’s acting abilities did not matter anymore. The duo unwittingly made themselves the real stars of the movie (alongside the cars of course) and we were heartbroken when they did not star in the sequel.
6. The Transporter (2002)
Finally, we have some Asian representation. Shu Qi starred alongside Jason Statham in this wildly popular series that set our heart racing and tongue wagging. The sight of poor helpless Shu all tied up in the boot of that majestic BMW just made us feel that National Service was worthwhile if we ever had to save a damsel in distress like her.
7. 2 Fast 2 Furious: Tokyo Drift (2003)
When we learnt that Michelle Rodriguez and Jordana Brewster were not returning for the second part of the series, our heart admittedly sank. However, Eva Mendes and Devon Aoki more than made up for it. In fact, we were so into the film that we even overlooked the two bit story plot that was being shoved down our throats.
8. The Italian Job (2003)
South African beauty, Charlize Theron zapped across LA City in a Mini Cooper as part of a daring gold heist. Sure it is a pale imitation of the 1969 classic, but it made up for it in our books as Charlize honoured the revamped Mini Cooper by putting it to the test with spectacular car chase sequences.
9. Death Proof (2007)
Death Proof proved to be Quentin Tarantino’s worst film ever. It was a tasteless gore fest with dialogue which left us yawning in our seat. But, we tend to look at the bright side of everything especially with an awesome cast of Rose McGowan, Rosario Dawson, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Sydney Tamiia Poitier and Vanessa Ferlito. Naturally, we found it in our heart to forgive Quentin and just sit back to enjoy the beautiful girls fighting for their lives in classic American muscle cars.
10. Death Race (2008)
We are starting to note a pattern with Paul W.S. Anderson’s films. The Fast and The Furious director’s formula revolves around a pissed off looking male protagonist, a beautiful leading actress and fast cars. This time, Jason Statham and Latino bombshell, Natalie Martinez star in this remake of the 1975 film. Prepare to use more eye power and less brain power in this crazy ride.
