SAFRA Singapore Bay Run & Army Half Marathon

RULES & REGULATIONS

GENERAL

1. The SAFRA Singapore Bay Run & Army Half Marathon is organised in accordance to the rules and regulations of SAFRA and the Army, hereby referred to as The Organisers.
2. The Organisers reserve the right to use any photograph, motion picture, recording, or any other record of this event and its participants for any legitimate purpose, including commercial advertising and future publicity for the event.
3. The Organisers reserve the right to amend the rules and regulations without prior notification.
4. The Army Half Marathon is organised in accordance with the International Association of Athletic Federations (IAAF) and Army Half Marathon (AHM) Rules & Regulations and sanctioned by the Singapore Athletics Association (SAA).
5. The Organisers reserve the right to cancel or postpone the event without any prior notification, in which case, the fees are non-refundable.
6. By registering for the event, participants are deemed to have agreed to the following:
i. bound by SAFRA’s Privacy Policy (a copy of which may be found at www.safra.sg), as amended from time to time, which outlines how SAFRA manages your personal data in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act 2012, and will be deemed to have consented to SAFRA’s collection, use or disclosure of your personal data for purposes set out therein relating to event participants, SAFRA’s general business purposes, any purposes reasonably connected with the above mentioned purposes and any other purposes for which SAFRA have specifically obtained your consent.
ii. receiving information from The Organisers about related promotions and event updates via SMS and Email.

REGISTRATION

1. Participants must be 15 years and above on race day to participate in the competitive categories.
2. Participants in the Men’s Master categories must be 40 years old and above as of race day.
3. Participants in the Women’s Master categories must be 35 years old and above as of race day.
4. Participants below the age of 18 must seek parental or guardian consent and fill in the relevant indemnity form when registering online. Failing which, The Organisers reserve the right to refuse entry to the participant.
5. Registration will not be accepted after the closing date.
6. Upon successful registration, you are not allowed to change the category that you have registered for.
7. All run category registrations are non-transferrable and non-refundable.
8. To ensure that your runner details are correct, please check and update your personal particulars before registration closes. Please note that only changes to personal particulars will be accepted.
9. The Organisers reserve the right to close registration before the official closing date should participation reach its capacity.
10. The Organisers will not be responsible for any dispute arising from incomplete or incorrect information submitted by participants.
11. Completion of the online entry form evidences the participant’s agreement to abide by the rules and regulations of SSBR & AHM 2018.
12. The Organisers reserve the right to limit and refuse entries.
13. A confirmation slip will be sent to the participant’s email address after the registration is successfully completed.
14. Each participant can only participate in one competitive category.
15. The registration will only be completed when full payment is made.
16. The actual distance of the respective competitive categories will be subjected to further confirmation with the sanctioning party before the event.

RACE ENTRY PACK COLLECTION

1. All registered participants, except SAF active servicemen, are to collect their race packs at the race expo. More information on the race expo will be provided at a later date.
2. The race pack will not be issued to participants after the designated collection period.
3. For collection, please bring along the confirmation slip or NRIC/Passport for verification purposes. The Organisers reserve the right to refuse collection by participants who do not present the required documents.
4. If participants are unable to collect their race packs in person, they may authorise a representative to collect on their behalf. The following documents must be presented when the representative is collecting the race pack:
» Race pack collection authorisation form
» Participant’s confirmation slip
» Photocopy of participant’s NRIC
» Photocopy of representative’s NRIC

RACE

1. While every reasonable precaution will be taken by The Organisers to ensure participants' safety, participants are advised to exercise due care and The Organisers shall not be liable for any loss and/or damage, whether personal or otherwise, and howsoever arising.
2. The Organisers reserve the right to remove any unattended bags at the event premises for security reasons and will not be responsible for any losses and/or damages to the belongings.
3. Only registered participants for the respective categories are allowed access to the Start Point. Runners must wear their assigned participant bibs on the front of their running attire near their chest area at all times during the race. Participants not wearing their assigned participant bibs will be asked to leave the course by event officials and may result in disqualification.
4. A participant's failure to observe the Rules and Regulations may result in disqualification.
5. A grace period of 15 minutes after the commencement of the run will be given for latecomers. Any participant who reports later than this grace period will not be allowed to participate in the run. For the competitive categories, latecomers should be aware that their race timing commences when the race begins.
6. The various road closures will start being lifted from 11am onwards and the roads will be re-opened to traffic. Participants may continue the run on the footpath. Participants who wish to continue the run on the footpath are advised to exercise due caution. The Organisers shall not be liable for any accidents or injuries, whether personal or otherwise, and howsoever arising.
7. Support vehicles or pacers (other than those officially appointed by The Organisers) are not allowed.
8. Any disputes arising from the participation in the SAFRA Singapore Bay Run & Army Half Marathon shall be referred to Arbitration to be conducted in Singapore under the law of Singapore Arbitration Court.
9. A participant who protests against another competitor or notifies of violation by a contestant must do so in writing to The Organisers within 30 minutes of the release of the official results. A deposit of S$50 or equivalent must accompany the appropriate protest and will be refunded if the protest is successful. All decisions made by the Appeal Board shall be final and irrefutable.
10. The Organisers reserve the right to stop any participant deemed physically incapable (i.e. severe physical harm) from continuing the run.
11. All participants are required to report at the Start Point at least 30 minutes prior to flag-off time.
12. In accordance with IAAF Rules, a participant must retire from the run immediately if requested by any member of the official medical staff.
13. No pets or any form of wheel-run objects or transport, e.g. in-line skates, prams, pushchairs, shoes with rollers etc, are allowed on the running route.
14. All participants who successfully complete the run will be awarded a Finisher's Medal at the Finish Line, with the participant bib as proof of participation.
15. All participants who successfully complete the run will be awarded an Online Certificate of Achievement, to be downloaded by participants.
16. Participants who fail to complete or were disqualified will not be awarded with an online Certificate of Achievement.
17. All participants must only wear their assigned participant bib. Transfer of participant bib is strictly not allowed.

TRAINING PROGRAMMES

1. Participants are advised not to attend the training programmes should they have fever, cough, breathing difficulties, severe muscle ache or are feeling unwell.
2. The capacity for each training programme is limited and participants can select the training programmes based on their race category eligibility, subjected to the availability of slots on a first-come-first-served basis. The Organisers do not guarantee that there will be available slots for all participants.

TIMING DEVICE

1. All participants must attach the assigned participant bib on the front of their running attire and the shoe tag to their right shoes.
2. The shoe tag is for one-time use only. Participants do not need to return it to The Organisers after the race.
3. The adopted timing device is the sole means of race timing measurement.
4. The Organisers will not be responsible for any inaccuracies in participant’s race timings.
5. An identification antenna is embedded in the timing device for competitive participants. The participant’s particulars and timings will be recorded electronically. Participants who fail to bring their participant bib on the event day cannot participate as competitive runners and an online Certificate of Achievement will not be issued upon the successful completion of the run.
6. The Organisers will not refund participants who forget to bring their timing device on the race day.
7. Participants of the competitive categories are to run through the gantries set up at various points along the route. Failure to comply will result in disqualification.

SAFETY & MEDICAL ADVISORY

1. All SAF active full-time national servicemen and regulars must be PES A or B to participate in the competitive categories.
2. All SAF regulars above 35 years old must produce their active FFI on the race day.
3. All SAF active full-time national servicemen and regulars who failed their PAR-Q are to seek medical advice and inform their commander on their medical condition.
4. Participants are not eligible to participate in any of the competitive categories if they have ticked "Yes" to any of the PAR-Q questions.
5. Should any participant feel unwell in the course of the race, he/she should stop and seek immediate medical attention at the designated medical posts.
6. Participants should prepare themselves adequately and gradually increase the duration and intensity of their training over several weeks prior to the event.
7. Participants should ensure that they are well-rested and well-hydrated prior to the run.
8. Participants are advised not to attend the event should they have fever, cough, breathing difficulties or severe muscle ache.
9. Participants are advised to consult their medical practitioner to certify them fit to participate in the event.
10. Participants who have doubts about their suitability to participate in this event (e.g. those on medication or those who have had recent health conditions) are advised to consult their medical practitioner prior to participation in the event.
11. To minimise injuries, always do at least 15 minutes of warm-up/stretching before the start and at the end of training and the run
12. Participants are advised against the consumption of alcohol or stimulants or any kind of drugs within 24 hours of the race.
13. Participants are advised to dress lightly for the run.

Waiver

1. I fully understand and acknowledge the risks involved in my participation in the Event and I accept full responsibility and assume all such risks.
2. I hereby represent, warrant and undertake to the Organisers the following with full knowledge that they shall be relied upon by the Organisers in accepting my registration: –
i. My personal particulars disclosed in the registration form are accurate, full and complete;
ii. I do not have any medical condition that would affect my safety or physical well-being.
iii. I am medically and physically fit and competent to participate in the Event; and
iv. I shall dutifully and fully abide by these Rules and Regulations and any applicable laws.
3. I confirm that the representations, warranties and undertakings herein are true and accurate.
4. I (including my heirs, successors and assigns) undertake not to make any claims whatsoever against the Organisers, Sponsors or officials of the Event or training programmes for any injury, death or loss/damage to property sustained during the Event or its training programmes, or disputes over any matter in relation to the Event and training programmes.
5. I (including my heirs, successors and assigns) agree to not hold the Organisers, Sponsors, appointed officials/suppliers (each an 'Indemnified Party') liable and keep each Indemnified Party fully and effectively indemnified from and against any and all losses, costs (including legal costs on a full indemnity basis), claims, damage and expenses whatsoever which any of them may incur (directly or indirectly) as a result of my breach of any of these Rules and Regulations.
6. These Rules and Regulations shall be governed under Singapore laws and I agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Singapore courts.
7. I am agreeable to the Organiser's or its appointed vendor to SMS or email me on any service related updates with regards to this event purpose only.
